Emily Larlham is my favorite trainer right now with the most comprehensive video library free for everyone who owns a dog. There's no way I could do this without a resource like her site. Join her youtube channel Kikopup and like Dogmantics on Facebook. http://www.useyourclicker.com/clicker-training.html
Here's the official NanatheBorderCollie website. Under the clicker training tab, there's a great page describing clicker training, what it does and how to use it. Poke around the site and you'll find videos of clicker trained cats and pet rats as well. http://drsophiayin.com/resources/dogtricks
Dr. Sophia Yin has a great website listing the very basics of teaching tricks as well as a variety of links to other free information sources. |

Karen Pryor is credited with popularizing clicker training and she stands as one of the foremost trainers in the field. Her website has a library and some free resources but also sells books, videos and clickers. Her organization holds big clicker training conventions as well. http://dogwise.com/
The largest online collection of books, DVDs, pamphlets, whatever on positive dog training. I get lost here every time I visit... http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist
The ASPCA also has a database of resources for dog owners, including a section on games. |
Books
Culture Clash
Jean Donaldson For me, this is the book that started it all. Donaldson uses behaviorism in the context of dog training to explain how we often carry unrealistic expectations of our dogs' behavior. She writes the most detailed step-by-step instructions (down to the second) that there's no way you can go wrong. Every dog owner should have this book. Don't Shoot the Dog
Karen Pryor Karen Pryor's seminal work explains in detail behaviorism's workings in changing your dog's behavior - and your chickens', your kids' and even your own behavior - for the better. Here's the pdf online. |
The Other End of the Leash
Patricia McConnell Also another book that every dog owner should own, Dr. McConnell explains how us dog owners consistently misconstrue what our dogs are trying to say - and how we can fix it. She is also the author of a myriad of other books and booklets directed at specific dog behaviors - including tricks! |
